The world is again up in arms about yet another idiotic Trump tweet. To be honest, the interesting (and encouraging) part of this story is that it seems we’ve reached a historical point where Conservative FOX network and MSNBC has some on-air personalities who are actually criticizing our dear President. Add to that the growing number of Republicans in Congress starting to sound off. Could it be these very partisan politicians are getting fed up with their guy in the Oval Office?
This story starts with the President getting incensed at the morning MSNBC show “Morning Joe”, hosted by former Congressman Joe Scarborough and commentator Mika Brzezinski, regarding more comments about Trump’s incompetence and poor character. Trump sent the above tweets, setting loose a barrage of shock & awe from both sides of the aisle (they finally are unified in something!).
As the networks jostled to get interviews from White House sources one notable interview stands out a bit simply because it’s from a Trump-friendly network… FOX.
You can check it out here…
But in a nutshell, news anchor Julie Banderas blasted President Trump’s attacks directed toward MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski Thursday, saying “that’s not how you run a country” and imploring Trump to “just walk away.” In an interview with RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel, who appeared on FOX to defend the President’s tweets, Banderas slammed McDaniel’s lame excuse that “Today the President acted like a human, and he pushed back.” with a reply, “I don’t care who you are. You don’t stoop to the level of that.”
It’s about time Conservatives wake up to who they tossed into office just so someone would “mix things up” against the so-called Washington elites.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, one of my fave Republicans, tweeted… “Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American politics, not the greatness of America.”
Republican Strategist Ana Navarro, currently a CNN commentator went off on a Trump rant of her own. It’s worth watching here…
Then we were treated to the press conference (televised!) by Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders where she vehemently defended her boss.. using the following remarks… which can stand on their own as ridiculous, without further definition or comment. Just remember here, she is defending the President of the United States of America, to America and the world.
- “I think the American people elected somebody who’s tough, who’s smart, and who’s a fighter.”
- “Look, the American people elected a fighter. They didn’t elect somebody to sit back and do nothing.” “He fights fire with fire.”
- “The President in no way form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence.”
- “He was simply pushing back and defending himself.”
- Trump can’t be expected to be held to a higher standard.”
- “I think the President would love for us all to focus on the legislative agenda a whole lot more.”
- “He’s not going to sit back and be attacked by the liberal media, Hollywood elites.”
You know, we’ve been wondering, as a nation, when, if, the country might get together; that some common cause might surface to ease the divisiveness and work for one common goal. This nutcase President is going to provide that catalyst on his own.
By the way, for those of you out there who are not Conservative Bible thumpers, the title of this post is a variant of Daniel 5:27.
I leave you with the words of Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee (D-Texas)…
“I would argue that our responsibility is not to him, but to the American people. And he should resign,”
Ya got that right, Congresswoman!
Carry On America!
